I recently purchased a plugin that analyzes my copy, lets me know what the search engines think about what I’ve written, lets me know what I should change to draw in more traffic, and provides tips on best SEO practices.

Scribe works with WordPress if you’re able to fill in a custom title tag and meta description for the post or page. While Scribe was originally developed for the Thesis Theme for WordPress, it also works with the free All in One SEO plugin, the hybrid theme, and the headway theme.

I have found that many of my posts were too short, and often I forgot to put a key word in the title tag. If you are using the All In One SEO plugin it’s a piece of cake to make sure the title and description are the right length to maximize your SEO efforts without getting to “keyword happy.”

It is a subscripton model (not a single price). The pricing starts at $27 a month for 30 evaluations, and goes up to $97 a month for 300 evaluations. You can use it on unlimited websites. You can try scribe for free for 30 days.

Test Everything

http://tester.jonasjohn.de/ is an interesting site that has tools to allow you to check your ranking, your images, social networks (I checked to see if I had been stumbled upon). Not a bad little site, although it did take a while for it to load (which seems ironic).

Cool Forums For WordPress

I have not done much with them yet, but I have install the ismple press forum on this website. This ties the forums into your worpdress installation and vice versa. The great thing is all the forum adminstration is handled inside your wordpress installation. I had some issues installing it on one of my websites, but that may have been to me running Semiologic on my blog. Check it out (its free) at www.simplepressforum.com

You would have Membergate. It’s the Cadillac of membership site software coming it at a starting price around $4k!

Affiliate Elite WordPress Plugin

This is a pretty cool plugin for wordpress. It’s called Affiliate Elite. You can define a keyword, and a link that goes to that keyword, as well as the style of the link, and it finds that keyword in your posts and links that keyword to the url you assigned. It has the capability to turn on the no follow tag so you don’t mess up your SEO with spiders following affiliate links. The great thing is now if an affiliate program is canceled you can easily redirect traffic to a new site, or delete the key word entirely. It’s not free. It’s $47 but for the power it provides, this could be a very useful tool, and a big time saver. Check out the video below.

Nickel Sale Script

I finally got to play with the Nickel Sale Script. I found some very cool things. First off, you can set the starting price to any price you want. Then you can have in go up .05 every sale OR you can have it go up any increment you want (so you could have a quarter sale). It does some great things by hiding the download link, and much more. When I bought it, it was a little over 10 bucks. I think its around 18 now. I did have some issues with the installation (no doubt a typo on my side) but their tech support has been VERY responsive so I’m sure I’ll be up and running in no time. Multiple IPN Paypal

The only “down side” to the Nickel Script was it uses (by default) the Paypal IPN feature (which verifies a sale before sending the visitor to the download). You can only have one IPN per PayPal account ) or so I thought. I found two scrips one at multipleipn.com and multiple-ipn.com The first one has a great looking site (but no contact information), and the second one (with the dash) has quite an ugle site, but they have contact information. These work on the basis that you can have 8 emails assigned to one paypal account. The script uses each email address to run a separate IPN script. Pretty cool and both are at 19.99

Xsitepro Total Site Management

This tool is so cool, it spooky. My wallet gets hot watcing this video.

I can’t believe the TONS of features. My favorites?
You can enter your affiliate links, and then easily add them to any page. It tells you what to do on each page to boost SEO success. You can do keyword research, and then have it make pages based on those keywords. It goes on and on. The video is short and powerful. Search Engine Optimization an Hour a Day (Second Edition)

This new edition has some social networking built into it. In reading the reviews, it seems like the author has you downloading some items from her website (worksheets) which should help keep the information current, but the reviewers who didn’t like the book said they didn’t like the organization of the topics, and apparently she is another person who is pushing wordtracker.com

Have You Played with Google Ad Manager?

You can check it out at https://www.google.com/admanager/login/en_US/index.html Publishers place the Ad Manager code on their sites, which then tracks page views and click-throughs to provide statistics on each ad unit. Ads tracked can include graphical, text and video. Ads can even be geo-targeted by examining the visitor’s IP address. The service supports other ad networks as well. It’s free to use, but Google will get a piece of the action by providing AdSense ads when a unit goes unsold or remnant space is available.
